WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Work to install water and sewer utilities will close part of Gordon Road in New Hanover County for a week.
The NCDOT says Elite Construction & Grading will have a continuous closure on Gordon Rd. at the Wilmington/Brookfield Subdivision between N. Kerr Avenue and North College Rd./Smith Creek beginning Monday at 9 a.m. and running through Monday, November 5 at 5 p.m. weather permitting.
The DOT says the detour around the work zone will be to follow Gordon Rd. to Northbrook Dr. to Gladbrook Dr. and back to Gordon Rd.

“During this time, please use caution as crews will be monitoring and maintaining this detour,” Engineering Technician Randy Chavis of the DOT’s Wilmington District Engineer’s Office said in a news release. “The contractor will be working around the clock to deliver the utility work in the allotted time frame.”
The NCDOT reminds motorists to STAY ALERT, use alternate routes when possible during this period, drive with caution, obey the posted speed limits, and allow extra travel time.
